Back to “me”. I always thought biodynamic was a bit fussy anyway, the described way of making compost sounds great to me. Check out “one Straw Revolution” its an even better way called “do nothing farming”. In the city though I think you pretty much have to make compost due to a lack of japanese rice straw.

What you’re describing isn’t Biodynamic compost, which doesn’t use a “starter” or the addition of a bacterial inoculant. Without the Biodynamic preparations (502, 3, 4, 5, 6), the compost simply isn’t BD.

Great post! Though I can’t imagine where I would put a ton of manure AND a ton of alfalfa! Hopefully you’ll be able to figure out how to implement the biodynamic farming info you learned into an apartment-sized “farm!”
